Samantha Perlstein, BA
I am a first-year student in the clinical psychology program at the University of Pennsylvania. I received my BA in Psychology and Human Rights from Barnard College in 2017. After graduating, I received a NIH Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award and began working in the Section for Mood Dysregulation and Neuroscience under the mentorship of Dr. Ellen Leibenluft and Dr. Melissa Brotman. At the NIH I worked on projects examining neural and behavioral correlates of childhood irritability. Presently, I am interested in investigating the development and environmental contexts surrounding antisocial and psychopathic behavior in childhood. Additionally, I am interested in understanding neurocognitive processes that underpin deficits in empathy and guilt in children with callous-unemotional traits.
